The digital world has witnessed a more significant recent spike with gamers and NFT collectors and creators alike. From metaverses on gaming platforms such as Roblox and Decentraland to JPEG art that now comes packed with utilities that provide an experience in the real world. Let's not forget Cryptocurrencies, as it has become the universal dollar where anyone can purchase things digitally from NFT marketplaces such as OpenSea, Rarity, and Voice. If you'd like to convert your crypto into cash, services such as Coinbase and Metamask, allow a simple tap of a button.
With the influence of the digital universe on today's society, we now see fashion that has taken cues from the untouchable world.
Brands like Balenciaga have boots that look like they came right out of Fortnite, and let's not forget these brands now bring their looks into the metaverse for their devotees to dress up their characters.
But one brand we did not see creating something to fit such an exciting group of people is Bulova.
Bulova has created a digital watch catered explicitly to gamers. They stated, "The iconic design is inspired by the gaming culture and features a sleek black IP stainless steel case with luminous green accents on a black silicone strap with a three-piece buckle and a green LED time display with dual time zone capabilities."
As I researched the piece and dived further into my google search for information, Hypebeast stated,
"Bulova has collaborated with 'lifestyle metaverse marketplace', D-CAVE, to give its most iconic digital watch a Web 3.0 makeover.
"Two new takes on Bulova's Computron LED have been created "by adding visual concepts inspired by the gaming world," including a special edition that will only be available "with a purchase of an NFT"
The main style is available direct from Bulova and becomes the first time the brand has accepted cryptocurrency alongside traditional currencies.
The Special Edition, along with its NFT, is available to pre-order now on D-CAVE with orders opening on March 24. A dedicated D-CAVE x Bulova space has been created on Decentraland, where owners of the NFT will be able to equip their avatars with a wearable version. "
As a creator in the NFT space, this is exciting news to see NFT brands pairing together with major companies to combine the benefits of both worlds.
The watch itself reminds me of the Girard Perregaux Casquette 2.0 that was initially also produced in the 70's and 80's. It's fascinating to see the vibe and look of culture backtrack to take design cues from the past to bring into our future.
Even the look of the D-Cave x Bulova website gives off the look of Tron, which is hands down my favorite movie of all time. Both for visuals and storyline....and let's face it, the message is profound.
With all that said, what are your thoughts on the D-Cave Bulova timepiece? Are you as excited about the project as I am? What are your thoughts on the look of the watch?
